Nail removal surgery, also known as nail avulsion, is a procedure to remove part or all of a fingernail or toenail, typically to address ingrown nails or severe fungal infections. Dr.shrikant Wakudkar expertise in this & usually performed under local anesthesia and can be a long-term solution for chronic ingrown toenails.
There are three types of Nail Removal Surgery:
Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA): Removes a portion of the nail, often the side edge, to treat ingrown nails.
Total Nail Avulsion (TNA): Removes the entire nail, sometimes for severe fungal infections or trauma.
Matrixectomy: Involves removing or destroying the nail matrix (where the nail grows from) to prevent regrowth, often after a PNA or TNA has failed.
